July 11, 2006 To all who have supported me on free speech and/or 9/11 truth, Thank you, thank you, thank you! Your letters to the university, the media, and the politicians are what made it possible for the Provost’s office to do the right thing. Many of you argued that people who question the official story of 9/11 are not crazy, but patriotic Americans doing their duty as informed citizens. Others argued that university instructors should not be fired for their political opinions. You won both arguments. Congratulations! Don’t forget to thank Provost Patrick Farrell. There is one more argument left to win. Is the 9/11 Commission Report an adequate official record of the most important historical event of the 21st century? This argument will be an easy one for us to win, as anyone familiar with David Griffin’s demolition of that “571-page lie” knows. We need a prominent public forum for this debate. And we need an opponent. So far nobody has been willing to step up and defend the official story in a free and open debate. Jim Fetzer and the Scholars for 9/11 Truth debate team are still looking for opponents for the National 9/11 Debate next September 16th in South Carolina. And Jim and I are looking for people in Wisconsin to serve as sparring partners to help Jim warm up for the big match. So far we’re not having much luck. Professor Donald Downs, who considers the 9/11 revisionist case “absurd” and “beyond the pale,” has backed down, and now says he does not want to defend his position in free and open debate. He claims that he cannot continue to argue for academic freedom while also publicly arguing in favor of the official story of 9/11. I do not understand his reasons for this, but I welcome his clear, cogent statement in support of academic freedom. We are going to have a local debate on 9/11 even if we have to debate an empty chair. Truth TV, a new 9/11 truth show Thursday night show (11 p.m.) on Madison’s WYOU-TV, cable channel 4, has agreed to provide a venue. (Other local and national media outlets are also welcome to invite us to use their facilities and to broadcast the debate!) We will be announcing a date for upcoming 9/11 debates. Jim Fetzer and/or Kevin Barrett will argue against the 9/11 Commission Report. We will choose the most qualified person we can find to defend the official story. If nobody is willing to step forward, we will debate an empty chair, thereby proving that the pro-9/11 Commission case is so weak that none dare defend it. I challenge Mark Green, Donald Downs, Jim Doyle, Steve Nass, Jessica McBride, or anyone else who is willing to make a fool of themselves in public to take up our challenge and defend the 9/11 Commission Report using logic and facts, not name-calling and threats. Anyone willing to defend the 9/11 Commission Report is invited to contact Scholars for 9/11 Truth or Kevin Barrett. Truth will prevail! Kevin Barrett Lecturer, University of Wisconsin-Madison Instructor, Edgewood College of Madison PS Since I’ve been taking this whole thing with a grain of humor, here is a joke from my friend Mike Cook of Kentucky. You may have heard that Mike had his “shootin’ irons” confiscated by the Secret Service for some remarks he made about this administration’s act of 9/11 high treason. Mike sent us the following old hillbilly joke: “My family and George W. Bush’s family was havin’ a feud. They threw a hand grenade at us. So we pulled the pin and threw it back.” That’s pretty much what happened to Jessica McBride, Steve Nass, Mark Green, Jim Doyle, and Hannity and Colmes. Keep those hand grenades coming! ; )
